Cancer Screening Program
  • Cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers in women worldwide. It starts in the cervix, located at the lower part of the uterus. Cervical cancer is the commonest cause of death among women in developing countries.
  • Indian Red Cross Society started the Cervical Cancer Screening programme in 2018 to reduce the rate of cervical cancer through early detection. Cervical cancer is the third most common cancer in Indian women.
  • It is a preventable disease as it has a well-defined, long pre-malignant phase which can be detected by regular screening and follow up.
