Introduction:- 

The Indian Red Cross Society National Headquarters is supporting the treatment adherence of most Vulnerable retreatment TB patients with partnership of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and also support of USAID, IFRC, WHO, State TB Association of India and RNTCP Since 2009.

Indian Red Cross Society Gujarat State Branch started “Tuberculosis Control Project- India” from September 2011 in two districts of Gujarat State namely Ahmadabad and Surendranagar districts. The Tuberculosis Control Project mainly focus on “To ensure that Cat-II TB Patients i.e. those who have stopped DOTs treatment without completion are put back on treatment until they are cured.

Goal:-
 
Improved adherence to Tuberculosis treatment regimens by vulnerable, retreatment Tuberculosis patients

Objective:-

  • To provide care and support for treatment adherence to 100 most-vulnerable retreatment Tuberculosis patients
  • To increase community awareness on Tuberculosis, MDR Tuberculosis and Tuberculosis /HIV through project advocacy, information, education and communication, and social mobilization
  • To reduce stigma and discrimination towards Tuberculosis and Tuberculosis/HIV patients and their family members
