Disaster Management - indian red cross society, gujarat state branch

Mission:

The IRCS, Gujarat state branch prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.

The Indian Red Cross society, Gujarat state branch provides us all the unique opportunity to help others, often in the most desperate of times. This is our incredible mission! The IRCS, Gujarat state branch prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors, this is what we do every day and each of you will support some component of our mission.

Here to help

Each disaster is different, but we adapt our resources to the needs of the people we serve…

Distribution of emergency supplies

Emergency supplies help people in the immediate aftermath of a disaster and in the days and weeks that follow. Our comfort kits contain basic personal supplies needed in the aftermath a disaster, such as a tarpaulin, bucket, kitchen set, mosquito net, clothes etc... Other emergency supplies could include tooth brush, tooth paste, soap, detergent cake, coconut oil, shaving razor, sanitary napkin etc... To help people clean up their homes and return to normalcy.

Health Services:

Red Cross health volunteers travel to disaster sites to help people cope, health workers can provide first aid treatment for injuries; monitor the well-being of people staying in the shelters.

Mental Health Services:

Red Cross mental health volunteers travel to disaster sites to help people cope; mental health workers specialize in providing emotional support and helping people to cope after a disaster.

I cannot over-emphasize the value of volunteers at the IRCS, Gujarat state branch. We are one of the oldest organizations founded by volunteers and we absolutely rely on our volunteers to help us. Meet our humanitarian service. Remember, we have around 4 to 5% employees, but over 95% volunteers. We could not  fulfill  our  mission  without  our  amazing volunteers.

Together, we make this organization strong.

We organize 2 days training on how to prepare against a disaster so that losses can be minimized. Our aim to prepare at least one thousand trained volunteers in each district. Join the Red Cross and become a real hero.
